A Day You Can Never Forget In Frankfurt

22/02/2016 By EuropeTourism

Are you looking for a modern city with a lot of fun? Do you need a perfect destination for your next vacation? Then make a trip to Frankfurt, Germany.

Frankfurt

I took a trip to Frankfurt last summer and ever since I could never stop talking about it. For me, it is the perfect vacation I have been hoping for. A day or two in Frankfurt is all you need to explore this awesome and inspiring city. It is the perfect city for sightseeing over a day, two or three days.

Are you on a tour of Europe and planning for a 1 or a 2-day stop in Frankfurt? This article will give you some of the best places I have visited and found exciting to write about.

Last year, I was on my way to France but decided to make a detour in Frankfurt, I have heard so much about this city and finally decided that I must see it. I was with a friend who speaks German, so that made things a bit easier.

Frankfurt is the fifth largest city in Germany and it is the transport center and financial hub of Germany. The biggest airport of Germany can be found here. It is well developed, has got new skyscraper like buildings, fast-paced and modern. It excels in finance, commerce, culture, education, transport and tourism.

Weather in Frankfurt is similar to Manhattan. In summer, the weather is generally hot. It is the hottest around July, so this is a good time to visit if you like sunshine. Winter is generally cold, so you will not be able to walk outdoors as much as you like. However, if you can take a trip at spring or early autumn you will get mild temperatures 15-20 Celsius. Also, airline tickets to Frankfurt are the cheapest at this time.

You can get the cheapest airline tickets to Frankfurt in September, the 3 airlines I prefer flying with during this period are American Airlines, BMI and Flybe. They offer the cheapest rates to Frankfurt.

Once you are in Frankfurt airport, you can smell the culture and history of the city. The people of Frankfurt are generally warm and welcoming towards visitors, especially in pubs, so you will feel like you are at home. To begin your tour, the first place you should visit is the Museumsufer district where you can see most of the renowned museums in this city. If you want to learn the evolution and transformation of earth through thousands of years visit the Senckenberg Museum which is the largest National History Museum in Germany. It is family safe and you will see lot of wide-eyed kids and excited adults here.

Are you interested in architecture? Do you want to see scale models of ancient and modern buildings? Then visit the National Museum of Architecture known as Deutsches Architekturmuseum while you are in Frankfurt.

Visit the old Sachsenhausen neighbourhood, you will see a lot of the city’s heritage, walking along the main street called the Schweizer Straße, which is a cosmopolitan boulevard that has bars and two of Frankfurt’s most traditional cider houses: Wagner and Zum Gemalten. These two wineries follow old traditions; they produce their own apple wine (apfelwein). You can easily spot them with the wreath of evergreen branches that you will see hanging outside.

Frankfurt

You will find diverse local specialties in Frankfurt’s restaurants. You can find the traditional German cuisine, also lots of restaurants offer cuisines from all over the world. The food here is worth every penny however you may need to dig deeper into your wallet. Some of the local delicacies include: A green sauce made from various herbs, sausages with sauerkraut and awesome Handkas mit Musik.

There is a big shopping center for tourists located in the central pedestrian promenade of Zeil and Fressgass Streets. This street attracts thousands of tourists every year. The atmosphere here is very lively from morning till night and you can shop around for all kinds of things in the Zeil Gallery – the local shopping center.

Do you want to party while you are in Frankfurt? There are lots of pubs, bars and nightclubs where you can enjoy endless fun. You can find most of them in the Ostend district, Sachsenhausen and the city center. A visit to any nightclub is not enough, you must see the Cocoon club.

This city is super-awesome; you can time your visit to some of the events and festivals organised throughout the year. Some of these events attract millions of visitors across the globe. Don’t miss out on the exciting annual spring festival known as Frühlings Dippemess. This festival offers a lot of wine, rides, food, dance, and arts and crafts. Frankfurt is a city you need to visit to fully appreciate it.
